CBS Program
Community Bible Study International (CBS for short) began in 1975 as a small Bible study in Washington DC, in Maryland. CBS currently has classes in more than 100 countries. The studies have been translated into many languages and there are classes all over the world including Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean.
In December 2016, Sus Hijos Foundation was one of the first in the country to receive training for the CBS program and in January 2017 we began the program to develop it within the orphanages and centers in which we work both public and private. The CBS program objective is to teach all youth and children about Christ and the word of God.
The classes in the centers allow us to have a close relationship with the youth and children who are part of these centers.
What is CBS program for “His Children”?
It is a program of bible studies that we develop through classes about Values in private and public centers of the country where boys and girls are taught about reading the Bible and to seek a closer relationship with God.
The Centers we work with:
- Guirola
- CISNA
- Educacion Especial "San Martin"
- San Vicente de Paul
- CIPI
- Construyendo mi Futuro (CNA Santa Ana)
- Cambia Tu Vida (SVDP)
- CIS Femenino
- CIS El Espino
We work by making visits to each center once a week, having 2 hours of Bible study that are carried out individually and in groups to achieve a better understanding and at the same time detect their need for God.
- An individual study consists of giving a personalized class and providing a questionnaire so that the young person may be able to discover and experience for himself the truth of the biblical passage of the week.
- In the group Bible study, we work in a different way, the spiritual leader or facilitator develops the theme and creates an environment of comfort, trust and security.
One of our greatest achievements has been in the youth detention center, where we met young people who have been very interested in achieving a relationship with God and studying the Bible, whose lives have been transformed through the word of God and at now they’re working in different companies.
One of the most notorious cases is Jonathan, a 22-year-old young man, who was going to serve an 11-year prison sentence, learns about God through CBS at the Youth Detention Center “El Espino” (CIS El Espino in Spanish) while He was serving his sentence. He was a young man who at that moment thought that he had no hope and that his life was completely lost and empty, but he never imagined that God would give him another chance. As time passed his heart began to open little by little and God began transforming his life. Two years after starting the CBS program, God had captivated his heart and he began to faithfully attend to the church that was inside the center, time passed and Jonathan became the co-pastor of the church inside the jail and in CBS program he was one of the most active and helpful people. He is currently working at the States Diner restaurant where he made rapid progress due to his good behavior and discipline. He is one of our most dedicated employees in the restaurant and of whom we are proud to witness his change and be part of his story. He recognizes that knowing God was the only way that he could be free from both the prison and his life history, thus becoming a new person. At present, he continues to attend church and is pursuing a degree in theology, constantly seeking to grow more spiritually.
