COVID-19EMERGENCY IN EL SALVADOR
The government of El Salvador in March 18th, 2020 declared a State of Emergency in response to the Coronavirus outbreak in the world, airport was closed for any commercial flights, restaurants were closed for on-site consumption, takeout and delivery services were still permitted. On March 22nd the president declared a mandatory quarantine for the entire country for the next 30 days, only specific businesses could continue working, most of them were closed. As of the end of May 2020 the country is still in lockdown and quarantined, it’s been more than 60 days already…
El Salvador is one of the countries with the highest poverty rate in the region, the quarantine affects us even deeper, there are so many people that have low or no income at all right now. Most businesses have suspended operations, people are suffering from poverty more than ever.
His Children Foundation has been also impacted by the sudden changes in the country but regardless we decided to start helping the ones in need putting our faith in God that he would provide. Meet our new project in response to the Covid-19 emergency in El Salvador.
We have combined our most important projects to help the most vulnerable, we are using the States Diner to prepare food for shelters lodging people that have COVID-19, we feed them three times a week. We also feed the homeless twice a week and we include the cops and militaries every time, we feed over 500 people with these runs every week and yeah… they’re still on the streets.
We deliver food to different communities in the country, so far, we’ve been able to deliver over 250 bags of food in San Salvador, Santa Ana, Ahuachapán, La Libertad, Usulután, Chalatenango and Sonsonate.
We hope to keep bringing more and more help to other places, but we need your help.
